Description
Type 81 lmg
The Type 81 LMG (Light Machine Gun) is a is a gas-operated, air-cooled, magazine-fed semi-automatic rifle that fires the 7.62x39mm cartridge. It was developed by the Chinese military and has been exported to other countries. It is considered to be a license-produced version of the Soviet AK-47 rifle, and shares many similar design features. The Type 81 LMG is one of the 56 rifles that are license produced in China, and is commonly used by military and police forces in the country.
The type 81 is an infantry support version of the Type 81 rifle family. The rifle was designed with a number of changes over the standard Type 81 to support its role including:
•Thicker and longer chrome lined barrel for better retained accuracy during high volume firing
•Folding integral bi-pod for firing support
•Front sight moved to the end of the barrel to provide a longer sight radius for added precision
•Top mounted folding carrying handle
•Rear stock changed to “club foot” style to allow the user to fire from the prone position more comfortably
The Type 81 LMG has classic looks and is an iconic piece of history. A solid and enjoyable shooter, an asset to any collection.
LMG production line has been shut down, when these are gone they’re gone forever.
The bolt group (of the rotating bolt type) is borrowed from the Type 63 rifle. Type 81 rifles also retains the Type 63 bolt hold-open device, which catches the bolt in the open position after the last round has been fired from magazine. The fire selector – safety switch is located at the left side of the receiver, just above the pistol grip, and can be easily operated with the right hand thumb. The open sights are marked from 100 to 1000 meters.
Developed by the Chinese military as a replacement for their Type 56 rifles (license produced AK-47). Was designed to have a longer service life, higher accuracy, improved durability and better controllability in full automatic firing. The Type 81 is used by multiple military and police forces across the globe.
In practice the Type 81 is incredibly flat shooting, comparable to a 5.56×45 in felt recoil and muzzle rise. Reliability is astounding, with not a single rifle coming back for failures. Lightweight and ergonomic, an asset to any shooter’s collection.
Comes with two 5/30 banana magazines, bi-pod, manual, oil bottle and integral cleaning kit. All parts and components are brand new production, not surplus. Non-restricted class. Drum is 75 size body, riveted to 5.
Features:
•Chrome lined barrel and gas system
•Short stroke gas piston
•2 position gas regulator
•Last round bolt hold open

I have been looking for 6.5 Creedmoore rifle for a while. I shoot off of my left shoulder and with the ability to switch the bolt handle to either side I decided to get this rifle. The straight pull bolt take some getting use to but once you use it for a while it becomes natural. Although the 20 inch barrel is listed as medium it makes up most of the 8.5 lbs of the rifle’s weight. I use a suppressor so the shorter Bbl. is more handy than the longer standard barrels. I like that you can easily change the length of pull and comb hight of the stock and found a combination that fit me perfectly. This rifle shoots everything I have fed it accurately. It keeps everything under an inch and love the Hornady 123 gr. bullets giving me three shot groups just over a quarter inch (.271 to be exact). I would not want to take this rifle on a hunt where I had to carry it all day, but for stand and blind hunting it is hard to beat, especially if you know that f you do your part you will hit your target. Savage states that the four round magazine is the largest offered. I would like more capacity if I get into a sounder of hogs.
Aguero –
There is over 90% blueing on mine, and the stock is solid, with assorted dings and nicks. The trigger is incredible, I can’t wait to shoot it! If you are interested in surplus guns, and don’t have a Swiss rifle yet, you really owe it to yourself to try one. This thing costs less than an absolute bottom of the barrel AR-15! Go for it!
McMahon –
the rifle I received is on the high end of expectations. It showed up with matching serial numbers, sling, and muzzle cover. The action and bore are in perfect shape and I couldn’t be happier with my purchase.
Jackson –
I purchased this firearm to add to my collection. I chose the good to very good condition grade. I feel the rifle I received is in the middle of that grading system. The stock in in nice condition, no cracks or arsenal repairs. The bore is bright and shiny. The red knob of the bolt handle was broken but still useable. After cleaning and inspecting it I brought it to the range and while firing it with swiss GP 11 cartridges I noticed the magazine would not feed smoothly. Comparing my K-11 magazine to the purchased 1911, I believe the follower spring has weakened, ultimately fixable. My point here, You take a gamble. If you want one buy one. Just realize if you purchase the “good” or even the “very good” option you may still have some minor issues.
Debose –
I was pleasantly surprised by the accuracy of this historical rifle. The rifling was worn but not wore out! It a great shooter. Just wished I’d have purchased one of these earlier! Just a lot of fun!!
John –
Purchased “good-very good”. Not sure what I got. Rifle arrived in a mangled box. Best I can tell, it may or may not have picked up some new dents/dings. That, and the crown had a ding in it regardless of the muzzle guard that came with it (yep, that’ll buff right out). Haven’t shot it yet. Will see in the Fall how the dinged crown provides stellar accuracy

It is clearly stamped on the barrel and can be verified on the manufacturers website. This is a good thing for the hand loader who wants to load long, heavy for caliber bullets that would not stabilize in the old 9.25 twist (Barnes 168 LRX for example). My rifle handles 180 Berger VLDs and 168 Barnes LRX with no issue. The long magazine allows the bullets to be loaded out to the lands. This is allowing me to load the bullets VERY long and I am easily able to safely work up loads to velocities well over listed data due to the increased case volume. Extremely pleased with it for the price point. I am guessing that Remarms, which is also producing 7PRC rifles, will transition all of their 7mm barrels to 1:8 twist as a cost savings measure. Just a guess.

Nice trigger good finish light weight 4 deer hunting
Calcote –
This particular model of rifle uses what’s called a “blind” riflestock for cost savings. That means there’s no bottom door to empty the internal magazine. Some people complain about that. I don’t mind it a bit. Matter of fact, if you’re out there hunting, the fewer gizmos on your rifle, the better. You will not ever have to be concerned about accidentally bumping the bottom door and dumping all your ammo. Unloading it, yes, you do have to cycle the bolt. Just follow the Four Rules of Firearms Safety like you should be doing at all times anyway, and there’s no problem. Rem 700 ADL’s typically come with cheapie riflescopes mounted on them to get someone started, but it’s easy enough to switch it out for a Leupold or similar. Best scope to put on this rifle is a VX-Freedom in standard 3-9×40. It fits what the rifle is intended to do, which is go out there and hunt game animals for the dinner table. Also, Rem 700 ADL’s come with pretty flimsy, “wiffle-bat” riflestocks. They work for a basic hunting rifle, though. That’s what an ADL is, a Remington 700 barreled action with less-expensive accessories on it so that more people can afford it. Savage does exactly the same thing with their Trophy Hunter XP. For its intended purpose, the 700 ADL doesn’t really need to be upgraded except for the included scope (I do the same thing on the Trophy Hunter XP). But putting a Bell & Carlson blind-magazine riflestock on does shrink group sizes some, for sure, so that’s a possible upgrade down the line. All in all, for a beginning shooter, the 700 ADL is a good choice of a rifle and shoots every bit as well as the Trophy Hunter XP. Why four stars? Because it’s a basic rifle. But it’s a basic rifle that works.

The shooter gets a factory installed picatinny rail and compatibility with AR magazines. I kitted mine out with a leftover Nikon P-Tactical scope and cantilever mount, a Voodoo Tactical cheek rest, and a simple Amazon bipod. Got it boresighted, took it to the range, and my groups at 100m could be covered up with a quarter, and that was with cheap brass Hungarian GECO .223 ammo. This is an out of the box 1MOA rifle for cheap. Load it up with 77-grain Razorcore and no coyote, feral hog, or even a whitetail deer will be safe.
Williamson –
I was using PPU soft point ammo. The Billy let passed cleanly through. It is also fun to shoot for my wife and young son. 400 rounds, steel and brass, and 1 deer, I would buy it again!
Amstrong –
The stock, which was far too light for the .308 chamber, is perfect for the 5.56. The action was a bit rough out of the box, but smoothed out with a few hundred rounds and liberal use of grease on the bolt. I was disappointed in the accuracy with lighter bullets, it wasn’t bad (about 2moa), just not as good as I felt it should be (my AR shoots the same rounds sub moa). After some experimenting, I found a load this little rifle seems to shoot well and have been getting one ragged hole groups at 100yds. My rifle, in 300blk, with a 1 in 7 twist favors heavier bullets. All in all I am very happy with this rifle.
Harry –
I really appreciate a nice classic rifle with a wood stock and real bottom metal. This rifle is not a classic but I can’t stop myself for grabbing it when I go out in the woods. I have one chambered in 450BM with a VX Freedom 1.5-4. I own Model 70s, 700s and Hawkeyes and love them, but this is so quick handling, light and accurate I tend to gravitate towards it. The other bonus that comes with this rifle is that it’s virtually indescribable. The 60 degree bolt through is a nice feature too. The muzzle brake really tames the recoil as well. This would be a good addition to anyone’s collection
Hazel –
Although I did not purchase this rifle from Ammofount I wanted to do a review. I’ve shot all kinds of ammo from this rifle. Needless to say, sub moa from cheap ammo is awesome. Most of the ammo I shoot is hunting type ammo, since I use this gun to hunt. It does a number on whitetails too. The hornady 123 grain SST is submoa
Curtis jones –
Enexpensive Rifle. Shoots great
Dinaro –
This is the second ranch rifle that I own and I am happy so far. I bought it to take advantage of plentiful 5.56 ammo supply. It feeds a little rough at times but extraction is positive and accuracy is very good. First range session was too windy real fine accuracy with a 20 mph wind but I was still happy with results. It does have a lot of muzzle flash but a vortex flash hider eliminated that.
Dinaro –
in my opinion, there is no other rifle even close to this price range that outperforms it for accuracy. If you’ve read this far, just stop and go buy it…thank me later.
Lobdel –
not only was the action very rough from the onset, but one could not cycle the action over an empty magazine due to the mag keeper physically blocking the bolt! (Note – I love P-mags in my AR platforms, but the Ruger factory issued 5.56 cal P-mag delivered with this .300 BLK Ruger rifle was the cause of the “rough action!) … I purchased and installed an after-market, METAL, 10 round, 300 BLK (7.62x 39) “ASC brand” magazine and this solved both problems. The bolt cycled noticeably smoother with the ASC magazine, plus i could now easily close the bolt over an empty mag. The difference this magazine swap made with the rifle’s functionality is amazing. This was an inexpensive fix and saved me from selling my newly acquired Riffle
Susan –
I bought this as a everyday shooter, I love the short length for the deer stand and shoot house. I put a relatively cheep vortex crossfire 2, 2x7x32 and it took 6 shots to have it holding 1.5″ groups at 100 yds. I have run 40 rds so far and the accuracy is right on. 4 stars because the bolt is a little rougher than I would like but I think that will smooth up with a little deburring
Hopkins earl –
I bought the 16″ version of this gun in .22 LR recently, and I am very impressed with the accuracy. I opted to install a rail and I have high cheekbones, so I can’t get proper cheek weld without buying a riser or another stock, which I plan to do. Otherwise I probably would have just bought the more vertical grip, which is a great feature if you will be doing more target-type shooting. The action is very smooth and I really like the trigger as it is. Some folks like to lighten it. Other than the lack of a cheek riser, my only complaint so far is the ejector. If you do not pull back the bolt quickly enough, the spent casing will just lay in the action. I don’t know if this is common with the T1X, but I plan to upgrade it. I would probably give this gun a 4.7 out of 5. It’s my first Tikka, but it won’t be my last. I want a centerfire T3 now.
Tristan –
I use this rifle mostly for Squirrel hunting, the accuracy of this Tikka is very impressive with that I mean a 5 shot group at 50 yards with CCI sub-sonics that is right at a half inch group and this rifle does it over and over. Great gun, great price for what your getting.
Smalley –
Hunting accuracy 1″ with any ammo. Money well spent for a change. Also did the stock mod, remove the little filler piece under the barrel to free-float.
Joseph –
Had one issue with a small pin coming loose inside rifle but it was an easy fix
Theodore –
. I’ve got to say the gun has promise on shooting potential as 25 shots in it is starting to group pretty well
Meeier –
This rifle is on of the best shooting rifles. It shots holes on top of holes.

not only shoot good, but are beautiful guns and I look forward to adding a few more to my collection.

Lori teft –
Recently purchased, this is the rifle I’ve been looking for since I gave my daughter in law my last 7mm-08 for a wedding present. Crisp, adjustable trigger. Accuracy with PPU 140 gr. PSP is very good (1.25″ CTC @ 100 yds.) . I’m now working up a hunting load with Varget powder and Hornady Interbond 139 gr. My last game animal taken was an antelope at a measured 420 yds. with a Nosler 120 gr. Ballistic tip in Wyoming. This an excellent, accurate cartridge.
Johnson –
I wanted something with a little more knock down power that used a larger caliber that I already had and used in a standard rifle but was shorter for close quarters in dense areas. This proved to be what I needed without going to a different caliber.
David –
Don’t buy a cheap gun and expect it to be fancy! This gun put the money where it needed to be, in the action and barrel. The stock and magazine are cheap, but neither have malfunctioned or caused me issues in any way. Consistent accuracy with hornady 178gr eldx, like 1 or sub 1 MOA. It’s a dependable workhorse of a platform and it’s perfect for long hunts. If you want an accurate, dependable gun for not a ton of cash, I would buy this gun over and over again. More aftermarket upgrades are coming out by the week if you ever want to customize!
Jolene king –
I bought this rifle in January 2018, and have put a Zeiss Terra 3x scope on it. The cons- The magazine on this rifle is JUNK. This would be a hands down 5 star review except for the magazine. If you want more info research it on YouTube. I cannot believe ruger would put out such trash. Also, I was firing the rifle today on the range and it stopped ejecting shells after I shot it. I put the rifle up and looked at it when I got home. I found the ejector pin in the magazine, and the ejector spring still in the bolt. I also noticed the ejector pin retaining pin sticking out a little on the bolt. So I put it back together and seated the retaining pin farther into the bolt. It’s ejecting rounds normally now. I may put a longer roll pin in it later. I believe it was barely engaging it from the factory. It will be something I’ll keep an eye on. Also, the stock was riding hard on the barrel near the fore end which I sanded down. The pro’s This rifle is hands down the most accurate rifle I own. I shot 130 hollow point hand loads out of it and the rifle was dead on at 100s. You could barely tell there were three holes on center of target. Then my buddy shot 165 gr hand loads from this rifle with the SAME result and he had never shot it before. It also shoots factory 150 gr the same way (picture from last year attached) I’m also pleased with the trigger. It’s very easy to adjust. I would suggest this to a friend but warn them about the junk magazine.

Well constructed and accurate. The accu stock and adjustable trigger are nice features
Rhonda –
Excellent gun, smooth action and a real tac driver. Ammofount shipping is always fast
Powel –
I do recommend this rifle. For a “Out of Box” Tactical rifle for the price it has enough features customizable options that make it more then worth the money asked for this rifle. I’ve had enough guns and rifles to know that cost doesn’t mean quality sometimes it’s just the name of the product and sometimes it’s quality. This rifle has great quality yes it’s a lil heavy but most buy this rifle for either hunting or Target shooting which means you are probably setup with a rest which takes away the barrels weight obviously. I’ve had the opportunity to compare this with others and I would definitely buy it again. Good luck and GOD BLESS!
Crowe –
I am left eye dominant and sighting with my left eye down the scope allows me to keep my right eye open and retain sight picture. My gun has a Vortex diamond back 4-12x40mm scope mounted. Pros. Accustock on rifle comes with three comb heights and several adjustments to length of pull, so whether you’re big or small it will be a true fit with little modification. Medium profile barrel – barrel is threaded so if you desire you can put a suppressor on the rifle or a muzzle break if that’s your cup of tea. Accutrigger – out of the box mine came set at 3 lbs, which ironically was right where I wanted it. You can make it lighter or heavier as you desire. It’s a savage – they’ve been making rifles for years, and they know what they’re doing. Box magazine – easy loading and removal of ammunition Savage accuracy – I made two 1 MOA groups at 100 M (110 yards) and a 1/2 MOA group after zeroing the optic on day 1. Each group was 3 rounds. Cons. Medium profile barrel – if you’re standing and shooting with this gun you’ll notice it is front heavy due to the thicker barrel. Fine for shooting on a rest, not exactly ideal as a hunter. Accustock – this is an all weather durable composite stock, and is rather light compared to the barrel, so weight distribution is front heavy again for hunting. Black coating on barrel – this is just a black coating that can and will wear off over time – oil the outside to prevent rust. Know what you’re going to use the rifle for. If you intend on hunting with it and mounting a suppressor understand that this rifle is front heavy before you add the additional weight of a suppressor. You may need to add a heavier stock to balance the rifle weight, however doing so will wear you out faster by holding extra mass. This gun is a great shooter, and I am pleased with the purchase. This is my first lefty rifle, and for the price I paid it was worth the money.
Rodrigues –
Solid rifle for the price. The included adjustable comb and lop are great for getting it dialed in for your preference. Solid stock with good inletting and no barrel contact. The best factory loads I’ve found are around 1 moa and probably will improve with handloading. The barrel is quite rough internally, borescoping shows a rather rough machining job. You can hear the patches singing their way down the barrel when cleaning, so definitely not a glass smooth hammer forged barrel. It prefers to be quite fouled for good groups. Takes about 10 shots for the groups to settle down after cleaning so I don’t clean it very often! TWO stars off because there was a burr in the chamber that was causing hard extraction and damaged about the first 40 pieces of brass I cycled through it. I took care of it myself instead of going through the hassle of sending it back to Savage. If it wasn’t for this QC issue from the factory I would have given it 4 or 5 stars.
Hollis Edwards –
3 shot group. 100 yards. It does this everyday I shoot. My shooting partner that witnessed my shooting says it is a unicorn. No. This was me shooting. Not in a gun vise. .308 RPR with stock barrel. I hope this helps. Could some things be better? Yes. But, customizing is the fun. And boy can you add aftermarket parts.
Teofilo –
If you don’t reload for this weapon you probably won’t get the results I have. But most folks that bought this weapon were reloading already. I’ll attach pictures if I can. Thanks for reading.

I am basically a handgun target shooter and decided to get into long range shooting. After doing a lot of research on the internet I decided on the Ruger Precision Rifle 308. I am very happy with my decision this is a very accurate rifle and the fact that it shares a lot of features with the AR makes it easy to customize for my shooting style grip, handguard ect
Christine –
This probably is a little heavy to carry around hunting but works great in a stand with the son in law flushing for me.
Terry –
My opinion is that they are very good rifles and I did recommend the 6.5 Creedmoor to my best friend.

for someone that is new to shooting and doesn’t know what they don’t have. It has great features like being able to use sr25 mags for instance…over all a decent gun. The whole rifle cost less then a good precision rifle action like a surgeon or defiance and you can’t be that if you are just an occasional shooter
James –
They have great products
Barnes –
This rifle is a monster. The quality or the build is evident from the way it looks, feels and shoots.
Leonel –
Great design and ergonomics. Everything well thought out. Have put about 500 rounds through it so far. All but a few test loads under an inch at 100 yards. I own a TRG 22 in 6.5 CM. This is nearly as accurate.
Brown –
I wasn’t sure how this rifle would shoot right out of the box. But I have not been disapointed. I shoot this gun in our club’s long range matches in the F/Open class. Our range streches out to 800 yds so I have not tested the gun past that. However, with the Vortex Gen 3 Razor glass mounted it competes with all the custom built rifles it has been matched against. The action is smooth as butter (left handed bolt) and the adjustable trigger is crisp and consistant. I have found that the rifle seems to like 140 gr SMKs, with 41.3 hrs of H4350, using CCI BR2 primers with Starline brass. That is where I seem to get the lowest Standard Deviation results. The 60 round matches we normally shoot I haven’t shot a 600 score yet but stay consistanly in the 590’s. The groups are always sub MOA. Bottom line; The gun, with good glass and proper ammo shoots better than I do!!
Smith –
a very well made rifle. The features are excellent. Accuracy is superb. It is very heavy. I deducted a star because I thought it came with a 2 stage trigger. Ammofount site says it does. I got a single stage trigger. It is however easily adjusted
