Nosler 300 rum Brass was developed to complement their line of custom bullets.
Each lot is weight-sorted to provide consistent measurements and capacities for accurate loads and features a Nosler head-stamp.
Before shipment, Nosler chamfers and deburrs the case mouths and deburrs the flash hole.
Fully prepped and ready to load upon receipt, each piece of brass offers consistency in trimmed length and neck wall thickness.
This brass is new and unprimed. This is not loaded ammunition.
The 300 rum brass is a 7.62mm high-capacity beltless cartridge suitable for both large game hunting and long range endeavours.
The beltless construction was thought to allow more a accurate chambering as well as increase the life-span of the case.
That particular construction has however been shown to have minimal bearing on such parameters
. It is one of the most powerfull 30-caliber cartridges available,
with magnificent velocities and hence reduced bullet drop, designed to handle the largest game on the North American continent.

300 rum brass preparation
With bulk rifle brass you may sometimes notice a few case mouths are “out of round” or slightly dented below the shoulder.
These imperfections occur in the final tumbling wash operation after the case mouth has been annealed.
Brass manufacturers are aware of the case cosmetics and have worked to mitigate it, but due to equipment design, denting may still occur.
Minor dents are normally removed in the first firing and will not affect case life or performance.
On non-plated brass, you may also notice all the anneal stain might not be polished off, which may give the case neck a pinkish color.
With some smaller caliber cases you may notice the case mouths to be slightly belled.
With all new rifle brass, you should first straighten out the case and case mouth, then chamfer and debur the case mouth inside and out.
To straighten the case mouth, run the case part way into the sizer die and let the expander ball straighten the brass.
To prevent the case neck from stretching, be sure to lubricate the case neck inside the case mouth.

I decided to try Nosler brass for my 300 Rem Ultra Mag in hopes that my new load combination would be a good long range Elk mix. I am pleased with the brass, having all casings uniform in weight and chamfered nicely. The only issue came with the primer flash hole reaming. They left many long spirals of brass inside the case from the reaming process. While this only took a little of my time to work the squigglies out of the case I’m just a little surprised that a premium brass manufacturer would let this slip through QA/QC. Bottom line is I will still buy and recommend the brass for the other reasons but I will be sure to carefully examine all casings for debris left inside

I got these for my Rem 700 300 RUM. After some de burring and resizing the casings. I started to put primers in and I noticed the primers were falling out. Nosler usually makes good stuff. But they missed the mark on this one.

I finally broke down and tried some of the expensive brass out there. I’ve always used Remington or Winchester. I do all the prepping of my brass including turning the necks, pocket reaming, flash hole deburring, and weight sorting. So I just got these from Midway for my 300 RUM. Then I found another brand at a store, box of 20 @ $2 + each, and decided I’d compare. Along with the Nosler and the (un-named) brand I had 10 cases of unprepped Remington also. So the Rem case sample is a little small. The first set of numbers are the stats on the case weights. I rounded my observations to 0.005 grains. Un-Named Nosler Rem Average 257.11 253.88 270.57 Mode 257.50 253.60 269.90 Sd 0.7833 0.3072 1.3181 Max 259.4 254.4 272.5 Min 255.7 253.4 268.7 ES 3.7 1.00 3.80 As you can see, the un-named brand was really no improvement over the Remington cases. The Nosler cases fell within 1 grain. I normally sort in (+,-) 1 grain, so I’m really happy about this! Next was checking the variation in neck thickness, measuring in 0.001. Un-Named Nosler Rem Average 2.60 1.16 1.94 Sd 1.50 0.45 0.8819 Max 5.50 3 3 Min 1 1 1 ES 4.5 2 2 21 of the 25 Nosler cases were less than 0.001 variation. The Remington sample was small, however only 3 of the 10 cases were 0.001 or less, and the expensive un-named brass had only 4 out of 20 less than 0.001. What I experienced with the un-named brass was typical of my experience with Remington brass. As far as flash holes and primer pockets both Nosler and the other expensive brass seems well finished, and no prepping there would seem necessary. I’ll spend my $ on Nosler Brass from here on out, as out of the 25 cases I see only 2 that I’d bother to turn the necks on; and I really won’t miss sorting by weight.

It has been some time since I wrote my last review on this brass.I believe I was paying what they’re charging for 25 rounds for 50 rounds at that time. My thinking about the packaging of 25 vs. 50 is it is easier to get 25 rounds very close in equal specifications. I essentially would find some large variances in the 50 round pack. Some I have still held out due to the inability of matching several up equally. But what really galls me is the price Nosler is charging for this product. Since I built my 300RUM the price of other brass has increased approximately 20%. Nosler has increased the price of this brass 100% and the tailings you find inside the brass are terrible. Make sure you wear safety glasses and use some canned air to blow the inside of the brass scraps out from the primer hole before reloading.

I started using Nosler brass when it first came out in my 25-06 shooting rock chucks and coyotes. It was more reasonably priced back then but would also hold up better than Remington and Winchester, giving me at least a dozen or more reloads before having any issues. It also improved the accuracy of my rifle substantially. Now, it’s the only brass I use on .257 caliber and up rifles I shoot, if it’s available for that caliber. I get tighter groups using it due to it’s excellent consistency of volume and weight. My custom .300 RUM digests it like an aphrodisiac.
